This lecture will cover numerous different clinical situations involving composite resin. We are faced every day in our clinical practices with patients requiring restorative needs. Should the restoration be direct, indirect, or a combination to provide the best clinical outcomes for our patients? Through a combination of lecture, clinical videos, and live demonstration, you will learn how to efficiently provide the best outcomes for your patients clinical needs. Highlights will include treating peg laterals, class IV fractures, diastema closure, and more. After attending this program, you should have the confidence to create natural looking restorations with finishing and polishing techniques that can be incorporated into your practice on Monday morning for increased predictability and profit.

Course Outline 

Small teeth but big challenges; what is the best treatment option for the congenitally missing lateral incisor? What is the appropriate age to place a dental implant in a young adult? Is the missing lateral incisor really just a single tooth issue?

In this program, participants will learn the key factors in determining which patient cases are best suited for space creation, and those that are appropriate for canine substitution in congenitally missing lateral incisor situations. The collaboration necessary between orthodontist, periodontist and restorative dentist for clinical success will be reviewed in detail to help the clinician understand the steps in treatment critical for esthetic and functional success. Information regarding irregularities in tooth size, shape and positions with other teeth in the maxillary arch that are commonly seen in congenitally missing lateral incisor cases will be shared. Clinical cases showing naturally esthetic restorative outcomes will be shown with step-by-step techniques demonstrated.

Hands-on portion of presentation will demonstrate appropriate shaping of the canine and direct composite placement to create life-like esthetics for the canine substitution case.
